Best 3D Printer Table For 2024
Looking for a Great 3D Printer Table?
Looking for a Great 3D Printer Table?
3D printer tables are almost nonexistent!
But all is not lost because there are a few great alternatives. After searching high and low for a 3D Printer Table it occurred to me that there are very few tables specifically for 3D Printers and the ones that do exist, leave a lot to be desired.
So, I went on a hunt to find the most functional, sturdiest 3D printer table that I could find, at a reasonable price. So, if you are in the market for a good table that won't break the bank, for your 3D Printer, then read on and maybe one of these tables will work for you.
In our search for the Best 3D Printer Tables, the first thing that we require is a sturdy table with a flat surface because, the less vibration you have while printing, the better-quality prints you should be able to produce.
Second, we looked for enough surface area to accommodate most home 3D printing units.
Next, we looked for some tables that had extra storage space for extra filaments, tools and other accessories and some without storage at all to minimize the footprint of the table.
Another option that is preferred is adjustable legs, not casters, because you don’t want a weak or shaky table moving any more than it has to, again for print quality.
Table height is another issue. Some people like their printer at desktop height while others prefer countertop height. I’m still torn between the two because I like using a desktop but I can visually see the printing process better at a countertop height.
Where you decide to locate your printer will dictate the best application for your workstation. For example, if your printer is in an office space with cabinets & bookcases on 3 walls. That only allows one wall for your desk, computer, and 3D Printer, so you may want to check out the Cubiker Small Computer Desk.

7 great alternatives for your 3D Printer Table.
FAQs
1. What kind of table is best for a 3D printer?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the best table for a 3D printer will vary depending on the individual printer's specifications and needs.
General tips on choosing the best table for a 3D printer:
The table should be wide enough to accommodate the printer's build volume.
The table should be sturdy enough to support the weight of the printer and its accessories.
The table should be smooth and level so that the print quality is not affected by bumps or vibrations.
If possible, it is recommended to custom-build a workbench specifically for use with a 3D printer, as this will ensure the best possible performance and reliability.
2. Does my 3D printer need to be on a sturdy table?
A sturdy table is not absolutely necessary for your 3D printer, but it is definitely recommended.
The most important factor in determining the quality of your prints is the flatness of the table surface. If the surface is even slightly uneven, it can cause significant alignment problems and lead to poor print outputs.
A custom workbench or tables specifically designed for 3D printers can be a great investment if you plan to do a lot of printing. These tables are typically made from high-quality materials like cast iron or aluminum, which help to keep them flat and stable.
They also often include built-in storage shelves and drawers, which can be handy for keeping your filament and other supplies organized.
3. What should a 3D printer sit on?
There are a lot of choices out there when it comes to finding the best 3D printer table. You do not want an unstable surface that will move around while the printer is in use.
You also want to make sure the table is big enough to accommodate your printer and any additional equipment or materials you might need.
You might want to consider getting a custom table made specifically for your 3D printer. This will ensure that everything is in the right place and that you have plenty of space to work.
It can be helpful to have a dedicated space for your 3D printing projects, and a good quality table can help make the printing process smoother and produce better print quality as well as keeping everything organized.
4. How long can you safely run a 3D printer?
There's no definitive answer to this question - it depends on the specific printer model, the type of material being printed, and a variety of other factors.
However, as a general rule, you can expect 3D printers to last for anywhere from 100-500 hours of continuous use before they need to be recalibrated or replaced altogether.
So if you're using your 3D printer daily, you'll probably need to give it a break every few weeks to ensure optimal print quality and performance. That said, some 3D printers are designed for extended use.
5. Is it OK to leave a 3D printer on ?
Is it ok to leave my 3D printer on?
I get this question a lot and, as with most things in life, the answer is: it depends. If you have a really nice, heavy-gauge structural resin 3D printer table, then yes, it's probably ok to leave your 3D printer on. But if you have a flimsy, plastic table from one of the big box stores that might not be able to handle the weight of your 3D printer, then you should probably unplug it when you're not using it.
6. Should I print fast or slow for big 3D prints?
It depends. Are you printing on an IKEA Lack table or some other flat surface? If so, then print faster. If not, then print slower.
Seriously though, it depends on the dimensions of your print and the quality you're looking for. For smaller prints, a higher resolution is usually needed, which means that the print will take longer. For larger prints, a lower resolution can be used without sacrificing too much quality.
Anyway, to sum it up: if you're printing a small print on a flat surface with a high resolution setting, your layers will be thinner and printing at a slower speed will enhance your ultra hd prints to their max, because you will be allowing your print to cool better before adding the next layer.
On the other hand, if you are printing a large print and the classic ultra hd is not necessary, then printing at a faster speed with higher layer lines is perfectly acceptable. That said, you are still going to need one of the many tables available for 3D printing in order to produce your finest quality models.
7. Can resin prints fail?
Yes, 3D printer resin prints can fail. In fact, any printing process can result in a failed print. It's just part of the learning process when you're working with new technology.
The best way to avoid failed prints is to make sure your printer table has enough space to work. Many people use the Ikea Lack table as their 3D Printer tables because they're sturdy and have a lot of space, although any good 3D Printer table or desk with plenty of room should do the trick.
Happy printing! :)
8. Why is 3D print so stringy?
It's not really that 3D printing is so stringy per se, it's just that the results often look a bit like something you might find at a taffy factory.
Seriously though, 3D printers work by depositing successive layers of material until a three-dimensional object is formed. And because the printer has to deposit material in such thin layers, there can be quite a bit of stringing and oozing as the material comes out of the nozzle.
Fortunately, much of this can be eliminated or reduced through proper post-processing. For example, by using an acetone vapor bath to smooth out the surface finish. So if you're having problems with stringiness, don't give up on 3D printing just yet! There are plenty of ways to improve the results.
For instance, 3D Printing tables are the foundation of getting quality prints as well as a good print bed and the printer's own enclosure. Many people will just go out and purchase an Ikea table and expect that it will suffice. Don't get me wrong, I am not putting down Ikea Lack tables in any way. I'm just say that they may not be the best tables your particular situation.
If you have the knowledge tools and equiptment to fully customize a diy project, you could build one of the best tables around by adding hardware like a fluorescent light, power surge protector, power strip, and two usb ports or more. You could build lower part with two or three shelves and the surface with enough space to accommodate multiple printers or have enough space for your post processing equipment.
All of these options are condusive to producing top shelf quality prints.
9. Why are my 3D resin prints so brittle?
Even the best 3D Printer can produce brittle prints depending on the chemical compound of the resin, the temperature setting, speed settings, the post processing and multiple other factors. PLA as a rule, is much more brittle than say ABS.
3D Printing has become a science and as such, there is a lot of trial and error. Thankfully there are multiple how-to sites all over the web that are more than willing to share their knowledge.
10. Is it better to 3D print in hot or cold room?
It depends. If you're printing in a hot room, the printer will work better in a cold room. And if you're printing in a cold room, the printer will work better in a hot room. Just kidding! It really doesn't matter that much.
Seriously though, 3D printers can produce decent results in a wide range of temperatures, although they may not be as reliable or consistent at the extremes of that range. In general, I'd recommend printing in an environment where the temperature is somewhere between 68 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit (20 and 26 degrees Celsius). That should be comfortable for both you and the printer. Another more important concern would be the humidity and eliminate any drafts.
If you want to get really picky about it, though, you could adjust your printing temperatures based on the type of material you're printing with. For example, ABS requires a higher extrusion temperature than PLA or PETG, so if your room is too cool it may result in poor layer adhesion and warping. On the other hand, if the room is too hot it could cause thermal runaway and a total failure of the print. So it's best to check the manufacturer's specifications for each material you're printing with, and adjust accordingly.
So, the take away here is, even the best 3D printer in the world won't work properly in any environment if it isn't sitting on a stable flat and sturdy surface. Some of the very best 3D printer tables are home made with at least four workbench legs and in some cases as many as six. When I say workbench legs, I'm talking about 4" x 4" with a 1 3/4" to 2" thick top shelf (or 3D printer surface) for stability. These tables may not look pretty but they are the best tables for your 3D printer.
Happy printing! :)
